Who are the awards for?

The Taste of Kent Awards are open to ANY food and drink business located in Kent, and have been running for over 18 years – making them the longest running, and most prestigious food & drink awards in the South East. They are an important tool for the industry, giving businesses an opportunity to shout about their business and interact with the general public by encouraging them to vote for their favourite foods and establishments.

How to get involved

The voting process has never been easier: simply click on the category that you would like to vote in and cast your vote. If you cannot see the name of the business you would like to support, simply add them in and vote. The sooner you add them to the list, the more people will see them as well, so voting early is important. This is a fantastic opportunity to say thank you to our very hard-working food and drink producers, retailers, restaurants, pubs, cafes and bistros in the county.

The Process. When voting closes, the team get busy!

For the majority of the voting categories, the top three in each category (which meet the criteria stated in the category description), are judged - either by our panel of judges attending the product judging day or visited by a secret shopper, and asked to show evidence of their local sourcing.

For the Hospitality Categories, the top 3 cafes, dining pubs, and restaurants will be visited by mystery diners and asked to show evidence of local sourcing.

For the non-voting categories, our judges will read all of the applications entered, and select 3 finalists from each. The finalists will then be invited to talk to the judges either in person at their premises, or via a zoom call.

The judges will then select the highest scoring product/business in each category as the overall winner.
