Kent Start-up Food & Drink Business of the Year 2022 Winner: Anne's Restaurant
Anne’s Restaurant launched in November 2021 and has quickly become a hot-spot for seekers of culinary excellence.
The opening came after extensive renovation of the 19th-century building that houses Anne’s, a structure that previously hosted a convent school.
Working closely with owner EKC Group, Anne’s is acting as a springboard for Folkestone College’s catering students. Their experience in the restaurant offers insights into the workings of a professional kitchen, designing consistently delicious dishes and creating a warm welcome for customers.
It’s through this, as well as our close partnerships with local producers and brewers, that makes Anne’s a force for good in the area.
The restaurant is proof that you can create positive change without sacrificing food quality and customer experience.
For a young business we were bowled over by the amazing lengths Anne’s Restaurant has gone to in order to keep everything in its stunning venue local; including employing its students to undertake carpentry work in the newly furnished restaurant. Incredible, locally sourced and sustainable food is cooked by ‘home-grown’ chefs, many of whom have graduated from East Kent College, where they trained using Anne’s Restaurant for work experience. The restaurant’s ambition, to prioritise local produce in everything that it does, is clear from the local artwork displayed on the walls to the fresh seafood caught that morning from the Kent coast.
